I've read several of Leon Morris's books, and this one keeps up to his standard. This book while an overview still was very insightful and encouraging. I read through it as a sort of daily devotional, but will continue to use it as a general reference.

Like the works by Wilson Bryan Key this book is an very interesting study of the manipulative art of subliminal advertising.

"It may be impossible to resist instructions which are not consciously experienced. There would seem to be a close parallel between these phenomena and those associated with post hypnotic suggestion and neurotic compulsive response."

The subject responds (by buying something?) without any awareness to stimulus.

Subject knows that he is being stimulated, but doesn't know what it is. The human brain subconsciously perceives but is not consciously aware.

In the beginning

To paraphrase Winston Churchill, when a new book appears on a subject read an old one first. Books and ideas evolve like many other things. What distinguishes this book is its comprehensive approach to reviewing the scientific studies that had been done on subliminal perception to this point, specifically dealing with what is referred to as validation. Does the research produce results and information that the hypotheses suggest, thus the subtitle "the nature of a controversy". What is fascinating is the integrity to which he ascribes in these reviews. It's been more than 25 years since I read it so I'm hesitant to say more but I will give you a hint, his next book on the subject was "Preconscious Processing", copyright 1981 which itself is still valid.

About the Author

Dr. Suresh Chandra Satapathy is currently working as Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Anil Neerukonda Institute of Technology and Sciences (ANITS), Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. He obtained his PhD in Computer Science Engineering from JNTUH, Hyderabad and Master degree in Computer Science and Engineering from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, Odisha. He has more than 27 years of teaching and research experience. His research interest includes machine learning, data mining, swarm intelligence studies and their applications to engineering. He has more than 98 publications to his credit in various reputed international journals and conference proceedings. He has edited many volumes from Springer AISC and LNCS in past and he is also the editorial board member in few international journals. He is a senior member of IEEE and Life Member of Computer society of India. Currently, he is the National Chairman of Division-V (Education and Research) of Computer Society of India.

Dr. J.K. Mandal has M.Sc. in Physics from Jadavpur University in 1986, M.Tech. in Computer Science from University of Calcutta. He was awarded PhD. in Computer Science & Engineering by Jadavpur University in 2000. Presently, he is working as Professor of Computer Science & Engineering and former Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Management, Kalyani University, Kalyani, Nadia, West Bengal for two consecutive terms. He started his career as lecturer at NERIST, Arunachal Pradesh in September, 1988. He has teaching and research experience of 28 years. His areas of research include coding theory, data and network security, remote sensing and GIS based applications, data compression, error correction, visual cryptography, steganography, security in MANET, wireless networks and unify computing. He has produced 11 PhD degrees, three submitted (2015) and 8 are ongoing. He has supervised 3 M.Phil and 30 M.Tech thesis. He is life member of Computer Society of India since 1992, CRSI since 2009, ACM since 2012, IEEE since 2013 and Fellow member of IETE since 2012, Executive member of CSI Kolkata Chapter. He has delivered invited lectures and acted as program chair of many international conferences and also edited 9 volumes of proceedings from Springer AISC series, CSI 2012 from McGraw-Hill, CIMTA 2013 from Procedia Technology, Elsevier. He is reviewer of various International Journals and Conferences. He has over 355 articles and 5 books published to his credit.

Dr. Siba K. Udgata is a Professor of School of Computer and Information Sciences, University of Hyderabad, India. He is presently heading Centre for Modelling, Simulation and Design (CMSD), a high performance computing facility at University of Hyderabad. He has got his Masters followed by Ph.D in Computer Science (mobile computing and wireless communication). His main research interests are Wireless Communication, Mobile Computing, Wireless Sensor Networks and Intelligent Algorithms. He was a United Nations Fellow and worked in the United Nations University/ International Institute for Software Technology (UNU/IIST), Macau as research fellow in the year 2001. Dr. Udgata is working as a principal investigator in many Government of India funded research projects mainly for development of wireless sensor network applications and application of swarm intelligence techniques. He has published extensively in refereed international journals and conferences in India as well as abroad. He was also in the editorial board of many Springer LNCS/LNAI and Springer AISC Proceedings. 

Prof. Vikrant Bhateja is Associate Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Shri Ramswaroop Memorial Group of Professional Colleges (SRMGPC), Lucknow and also the Head (Academics & Quality Control) in the same college. His area of research include digital image and video processing, computer vision, medical imaging, machine learning, pattern analysis and recognition, neural networks, soft computing and bio-inspired computing techniques. He has more than 90 quality publications in various international journals and conference proceedings. Prof. Vikrant has been on TPC and chaired various sessions from the above domain in international conferences of IEEE and Springer. He has been the track chair and served in the core-technical/editorial teams for international conferences: FICTA 2014, CSI 2014 and INDIA 2015 under Springer-ASIC Series and INDIACom-2015, ICACCI-2015 under IEEE. He is associate editor in International Journal of Convergence Computing (IJConvC) and also serving in the editorial board of International Journal of Image Mining (IJIM) under Inderscience Publishers. At present he is guest editors for two special issues floated in International Journal of Rough Sets and Data Analysis (IJRSDA) and International Journal of System Dynamics Applications (IJSDA) under IGI Global publications.

Everything you need to know about guinea fowl.

Honestly when I picked up this book I couldn't tell you what a guinea fowl was, when I started reading I learned that I knew all along just by a different name- pheasant. I live in a semi rural area where people do keep poultry. I found this book fascinating. Marks covered everything I could dream up about Guinea Fowls. His information was straight to the point and included pictures. He starts with the history of the guinea fowl and talks about what it takes to keep them cost wise, space wise, and materials wise. He enlightened me on the predators of them, collecting eggs, breeding and so much more. If you are looking to keep guinea fowls this book will be a great support for you, if you just want to learn more this book has a mass amount of information and I was very impressed.

I bought this book as a birthday present for my uncle, and he hasn't put it down since he got it. My favorite part about this book is that it’s not only informative and insightful, but also written in a very engaging and easy to understand manner that, for me personally, made the overall read just as enjoyable and entertaining as it was educational. As well as this, it is clear to me that the author truly has a passion for wildlife and it shows through the enthusiastic tone of the writing style. I can’t say that I plan on rearing any birds anytime soon, but I certainly feel much more competent towards the notion than I was prior to this read!

Hot, hot, hot!

Four days. That's it. This book takes place over four days but, oh, the goodness that happens in those four days is priceless. Warning: You will want to stay up later and block the world out.

Marnie and Jake unknowingly end up on the same mountain but for very different reasons. While she's there for soul searching, he's there for safety. She's there with her big dog and he's there with his big secrets. He has two rules he follows and NOT consorting with a cute blonde is one of them.

The sparks flew from the first words out of their mouths and many times I was either laughing out loud or shaking my head. As I read their story, I got to know each of them in ways that made my heart tug. She's so honest and brave and he's so scarred and selfless. Not only did the chemistry between them stay at a high level, the story itself was so suspenseful. Would she be okay? Would he be okay? Who were the bad guys? The overall question though was "Could these two make it in the real world when everything was over?" Again. More suspense.

The additional bonus of seeing the author's notes was nice but what I really enjoyed was the interview on how she came up with this story. You imagine authors sitting at home just trying to come up with a story and plot. Not this author! Read for yourself how she came up with the idea and how she started T-FLAC. Read how she sometimes researches WAY more then she needs to for her books but does it anyway. But most of all, read Jake and Marnie's story.

Love the Extras!

I love this book. It's one of my favorites by Cherry Adair. It's the story of Jake and Marnie. Jake is a member of T-FLAC, an anti-terrorist group who retreats to his mountain lair while trying to figure out who is framing him for the murders of other operatives. Marnie is up on the mountain trying to decide what she wants to do with her life now that her grandmother has died. Without giving away any of the story, I can tell you there is nonstop action, an adorable dog, really hunky men and some great sex.

This is the Enhanced version of the book that came out several years ago. I love all the extras that the enhanced version gives us. I learned some new facts that aren't in any of the other books and now have a great resource for all things Jake and Marnie and T-FLAC. I love all the photos that were included and a more in depth backstory to the characters. I would highly recommend buying the enhanced version.

This book has everything in it. Strong hero, even if he is a little cranky (personally I liked his cranky attitude) a woman that can hold her own against him, and a smart dog! I loved reading about Jake, Marnie,and Duchess. The danger at every turn, the interaction between all three of them and how they finally got over their issue and got together. Not only is the story great, but you get the bonus of reading Cherry's notes of these great characters and interviews.

About the Author
Peter Gerlach uses 40 years' learnings from careers in engineering, education, and psychotherapy to form the unique ideas in this book. A Stanford graduate, Peter spent 17 years working in various design, marketing, training, and management positions for GT&E and IBM. In 1979, he began studies that led to a master's degree in social work. In 1981, Peter began a private practice specializing in solving individual and stepfamily relationship problems. In 1985, he "accidentally" discovered that his parents had been functional alcoholics. That triggered a life-changing personal healing journey, including an intense study of family dysfunction, recovery, and inner family therapy. These learnings, over 400 hours of post-graduate education, and over 15,000 hours of clinical experience, underlie the premises in this book. The key premise is that you, your mate, and any kids, may be unaware of living under the control of a protective, limiting false self - and you can change that, if you wish.

I highly recommend this book and Peter Gerlach's website, [...]. Read the book with an open mind. Your true "Self" is confident and calm, and this book will help you help your true "Self" to re-emerge.

Must Read for anyone in Recovery

This book by Peter Gerlach is a must read for anyone doing the deeper inner work to free themselves from the bondage of the False Self. I believe that Echkart Tolle's EGO work only takes things so far. Peter's book has incredible knowledge on healing the False Self so you can be more authentic and live from True Self. The False Self is setup to keep us comfortable and miserable and seperated from our "True Self".

The False self is not evil however it doesn't know better. It is like a computer doing only what it was programmed to do by well meaning parents, friends, society, schools, etc. etc. Only the True Self can being us true Joy, Peace and Serenity and a deep connection to the Universe. This is my opinion and my experience.
