Tragic queen tells her tale

Absolutely gorgeous. Ankhesenamun is the daughter of Akhenaten and Nefertiti, and she has a picture perfect life until her father's religious reforms draw the wrath of the nation. Her father has a total breakdown and destroys his family and is hideously abusive to two of his daughters, which was really shocking. Ankhesenamun (still named Ankhesenpaaten for her father's new god)finds safety happiness with her half-brother, who is despised by Nefertiti and has to struggle for pharaoh's favor. After a whole mess of murder and conspiracy, Tut gets the crown and things get a little better-for while... Wars, romance, and intrigue, all told through the point of view of this young, slightly spoiled, very damaged, and beautiful queen. And the end is sooooooo sad, but most people should know that already!!! Anyone who likes romance, history, or tragedy will love this book. The coolest thing is that all the new research is incorperated, so nothing is outdated.

This is one of my favorite books ever

I love Egyptian history. Just to get a glimpse into a possible life of the infamous Pharaoh's life through the eyes of the author was a real treat. The story was a page turner...full of heartbreak, love, devotion, and betrayal. I truly felt every emotion run through me while reading this book and was bawling by the end...for a WHILE. It was so sad that I'm a little scared of it, but I cannot go without recommending this book! It is a heart wrenching must read for any romantic...or Egypt fanatic out there. Do not pass up this book.

Well written and highly entertaining.

I won't go into a synopsis because you can read those yourself in the book description. For $3 this was a fantastic read, a treasure of period detail and excellent character developement. I agree with a prior reviewer that King Tut was often referred to as some sort of hunky guy, when in fact we now know him to be a bit of a skinny kid based on his mummy analysis. I was also slightly shocked that it included the birth of a son (which is highly doubtful), but given the limited information on the time I forgive the author of these two liberties taken for the benefit of enhancing a story we know almost nothing about. I do recommend this book to anyone interested in Egyptian historical fiction as it is ripe with the political intrigue and "dirty details" of life at court during this period that most prefer not to think about (incest, in particular). A great read at a bargain price. I really did enjoy it.
