Not Satisfied at All

I am twelve years old and I have been playing for three years. When I read the reviews for this book, I thought it would be good for me since I am not a beginner and I don't like playing songs that are too easy. After I started playing the songs, they were all really easy (they were also big note format) and all of them had parts that were not at all accurate to the soundtrack version. Even though the songs had the chords that you could improvise with, the melody was sometimes not accurate and it did not sound good. I also wish the left hand part had more notes in it. Overall, I think this would be a good book for beginners, but once again, I am not a beginner so I was not very happy with the book. I wish I could have been able to preview it before I ordered it.

The piano music is definitely not beginner but not too difficult to learn. The vocal is supported quite a bit by the piano accompaniment so it's not too hard to pick up the songs either. Great music and fun!

I wish the description showed this version was the BIG NOTE book. I would have preferred the advanced/original songbook for me, but this will work for my girls when they start piano lessons.

Wonderful read

The book Report For Booty is a wonderful book on two former Army Rangers, Mason and Nash, who meet with a beautiful woman named Regan. Who the men called Ms. Luscious. Regan has trust issues that the men have to get through to get to her heart. This was such a wonderful read. I didn't put it down till it was done. I loved it. I would recommend this book.

Reagan is one lucky lady to have met not one but two hunks!

Wow! Reagan hit the jackpot at her last house sitting job! Next door neighbors Mason and Nash introduced themselves while bringing her the misplaced mail from their bungalow. She had no idea they had been checking her out. The rest of her stay on the island came to her as quite a surprise. The ending is short and sweet! Sexy, cute book!

Jodi Redford certainly has a way with sexy, hunks of burning man-flesh. Mason and Nash steam up the pages from the start. They're brawny and good natured and they want nothing more than to give Regan their complete attention.

The fact the work well as a team is a boon for Regan and her repressed lady parts. The fact they want nothing more than to lavish her with all the attention she's been lacking sends her into a tailspin. Then she realizes that having too men totally dedicated to her pleasure is NOT SOMETHING ANYONE SHOULD WALK AWAY FROM. And she goes for it. Boom! Let the sexy times begin!

I loved revisiting Marissa (she who also has a hunk of burning love in the form of Mr Kinky Claus himself) and I'm curious is Harper's story about her lost connection is going to yield us a story about her finding her HEA. For the record, I totally wouldn't mind that. Harper made me laugh.

I orderd this book because I needed it for my nursing course. I ordered the older edition because of cost. I'm glad I made this decision. The book has all chapters except one but I paid about 90% less than the cost of the new edition. Even greater was that the book was in excellent condition and the service was great and prompt. About the Author
Steve Kaufman was born April 20, 1957 in New York City. He was introduced to music by his father, a jazz pianist, and his mother, a classically trained pianist. At the age of four, Steve started to play the piano and later moved on to the cello. At 10 he began playing the guitar, but after a few years of strumming, he put the guitar under the bed. At 14, Steve started "picking" the guitar and he has not put it down since.

Steve is the only three time winner of the prestigious National Flatpicking Championships held in Winfield, Kansas. His music covers a broad range of styles. He is an extremely versatile performer and his performances are highlighted by his blazing technic and humor. Norman for Everyone

This book is very accessible.
For each tune presented, it gives first the guitar chords and melody (including a TAB rendition of the melody), then the complete lyrics, then the guitar TAB. This allows you to play the song at any level of complexity you like, up to Norman's own, without requiring of you the ability to read standard musical notation.
The spiral binding allows the book to lie flat when open, making it physically very easy to use.
Throughout there are photos of Norman, Nancy and friends, making the book an aesthetic delight.
The pieces transcribed include a selection from throughout Blake's career, and both songs and instrumental pieces. a handy resource for the Norman Blake fan

I tend to grab books and DVDs by or about artists like Norman as a matter of principle, assuming that there may not be a lot of commercial appeal and they'll eventually go out of print. A little grim, but based on experience. So, as a Norman Blake fan, I didn't want to pass this book up. It's a good book, full of Norman's original songs, music and lyrics. As a guitarist, I wish it included his solos and instrumental pieces, but it doesn't. I'm happy to have it in my library of music, but I'm still waiting for someone to publish a book of his solos and a breakdown of his playing style!

Look at this way... If You want to play like Norman Blake you better be an advanced player. This book could be used by anyone that wants to pusue his sound. The correct chords and words are here. Strum chords, crosspick or just have fun, this book is correct. The tabs are right... Steve Kaufman is a killer player and he did a great job depicting his, mine and all flatpickers idol!!! Don't be lead off by any bad reviews.

Galvanizing America's entropy

Well, I'm a Yank but not proud of America's soft consumer economy which has softened and weakened the industrial manufacturing work ethic of the United States. This book legitimizes what is happening with manufacturing across the borders of sovereign states, traces the genesis adriotly, secures logical connections to the present day, traces cultural characteristics back to Medieval times, which enables the reader to grasp how both manufacturing processes and products themselves arose naturally from particular traits within a peoples' psyche, e.g. German engineering, English complexity in understanding sources and processes, the French skill in administration and tactics, etc. Peter Marsh of the Financial Times writes with erudition, swift, telling prose, an efficient syntax and adequate diction, bring the reader along effortlessly, the selfless task of the professional writer. Putting the book down, you not only have learned about a new wave in manufacturing with its attendant characteristics, but you realize you've learned the how, i.e., in what ways, and the whys....the very sources of each manufacturing technique. Every man and woman entering business should read and perhaps leave the book within easy reach on their desk. Well done, indeed, Mr. Marsh.

Interesting Compilation of Manufacturing Technologies...

This is a very compelling research on manufacturing technologies and potential applications, from the first industrial revolution to nowadays. However, I failed to see how these new technologies will have an impact on business and on the manufacturing industry in the future. Only chapter 9 and 10 elaborate on this. The rest is a compelling research on manufacturing history.
Decent book, but I was disappointed.

Great if you don't know anything about manufacturing

This book is published by the liberal arts university Yale. That tells us quite a bit about this book. It introduces manufacturing to somebody that has read sociology, history, or biology. We get a little bit about the industrial revolution, Ford's assembly line and the more recent trends of mass-customisation and outsourcing to China. The book is written by an old-fashioned journalist that rather tries to explain everything in text format as opposed to pictures and charts.

So if you want a "literary" primer on manufacturing you should seriously consider this book. Otherwise I would give it a pass. The most interesting part of the book for a more knowledgeable reader is the short descriptions of modern, individual manufacturing firms. However, I would not consider this to be enough for actually buying the book.

Outstanding scholarship and storytelling!

First, let me say how much I enjoyed this book. It is a work of tremendous research informed by a mature mind which deeply understands the roles of history and story in creating self-identity.

I was alerted to its existence by Ilene Shepard Smiddy, author of DAUGHTER OF SHILOH, also a splendid narrative/adventure retelling a part of the Shoeboots story, but centering on Clarinda Allington and her children.

Dr. Miles provides us with a helpful family tree in the front of the book, and inside there are maps that help orient the story. The historical asides and reflections using Toni Morrison's BELOVED are treasures. Inside too are several illustrations and pictures, including one of a Shoeboots descendant. The text is divided into logical chapters. The notes are easy to follow and delicious to read, and they are followed by a full bibliography and a comprehensive index.

I would like to see the notes expanded to include the family of Napoleon Bonaparte, perhaps a grandson of Shoeboots, or of one of the Shoeboots, and who entered the mainstream population in Kentucky as a free black.

As Dr. Miles points out, there was more than one individual who was referred to as the Boot or Shoeboots (and other nicknames, in both English and Cherokee), and I suspect that this was a concept name involving the crow or the rooster--the hero of a Cherokee parable. It is fascinating to read about here, and her arguments are engaging. Highly recommended reading!

Unique view on slavery and race in the Cherokee nation

Ties that Bind challenges the traditional view of American slavery and shows that both slavery and interracial relations extended to the Cherokee Nation. This innovative book reads as a personal history of the Shoe Boots family as well as an academic look at the lives of Cherokees from the late eighteenth century to the removal of Native Americans to present day. Miles argues that the interconnectedness of race in the South profoundly shaped the Cherokee culture, including the Shoe Boots family.
The book began in the 1700s with the early history of the Cherokee warrior Shoe Boots, and then described his relationship with his slave Doll whom he acquired in the late eighteenth century. Between 1802 and l805, Shoe Boots began having an intimate relationship with Doll and they had children together. Miles then explored Doll and their children’s place in the Cherokee society, a place that was different from their father’s based on their race. Doll and her children struggled to be identified as Cherokees even though Shoe Boots petitioned for his children to be given Cherokee citizenship rights. While their children became citizens of the Cherokee nation, Doll was not and was still thought of as just as slave.
Miles incorporates an abundance of secondary sources and literature into the book which separates it from most other scholarly works. While the book highlights the Shoe boots family, it also discusses the Cherokee nation as a whole, which is both a strength and weakness. While the book provides an interesting combination of family and national history, the author could have better balanced and interwoven the two. A book written about the Shoe Boots family or the Cherokees alone could have been more effective. Also, Miles’ argument is weakened by her lack of information about Doll, and much of her argument is based on assumptions and rhetorical questions. Regardless, this book is well written, compelling and appealing to both scholars and non-scholars alike.

Revealing Little Known History

This book provides excellent insight into a little known part of American history. Few people realize that some American Indian tribes (particularly the "Five Civilized Tribes") practiced slavery and this text delves into the complex relationships resulting from it. The impact of the practice has repercussions still felt today. Most importantly, it reveals the rarely addressed interaction between African-Americans and Native Americans dating back to the earliest history of the United States.

Taylor Ann Bunker grew up outside of Denver Colorado in a big family and had always aspired to have her own band and to be a world traveler. After struggling with guitar and realizing travel is very costly, she turned to her one REAL love, writing. Not Your Everyday Paranormal

I was pleasantly pleased and surprised by Witch In The Woods. I love the title: simple yet elegant. Taylor Ann Bunker has an imagination out of this world and does her homework as well in this romping witch hunt set in colonial times. Victor Steep is the courageous witch hunter and hero who, against all odds, does battle against the, more than match, lethal witch. A good amount of chapters start with Steep reading from his journal which is a wonderful touch.

Bunker is masterful in the way she seamlessly weaves colorful descriptions and vivid details into the narrative, action, and dialog of the story. At times I felt like I was watching a movie. And if your heart wasn’t beating fast enough with fear in the dark woods of Beth’s Hollow, then it’ll beat for that YA young love when Steep runs into Clearly Willow. Bunker has a gift when it come to creating characters. I especially like the contrast between the characters: the true mark of a talented author. This is most evident in the dialog between Gammer and Steep.

I read WITW in a day. This one has it all. The Misercorde Dagger is cool, but I gotta get me one of those dagger pistols and start a collection.

Witch in the Woods was a really fun start to another witch trilogy that I can't wait ...

Victor is a witch hunter that has been drafted to Beth's Hollow to determine who this witch is that has been harassing the townspeople for years. After more and more people reportedly go missing once they enter the woods, Victor takes the task upon himself to bring this witch down. Little did he know that he would begin to develop feelings for those he would meet in the woods or that he would develop a new found respect for his deceased father in the process.

A solid 4/5, Witch in the Woods was a really fun start to another witch trilogy that I can't wait to continue! A debut novel from this author, you can tell how much she enjoyed writing the characters as the storyline progressed. Victor is one of my favorite characters that I read in 2014. I need to get books 2 and 3 ASAP!

creative pairing of horror and paranormal

Bunker's smooth writing helped me to settle into this comfortable and easy read, despite the fact that it's a dark fantasy with paranormal elements. The Gothic horror tone was consistent and enjoyable, reminding me of favorites such as The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Frankenstein. The author made her own contribution to the genre with a creative spin on the paranormal. I noticed some typos here and there, but that didn't keep me from wanting to continue. I'd love to find out more about Fabian and his perspective on all that has transpired. The title of the second book in the series is worrisome, but all the more reason to find out what happens.

Interesting Look Into a Controversial Man

William Seymour has his supporters and his critics. His critics call him a mystic, a man who sought experiences his whole life. His supporters call him a man who was hungry for God, tired of dead and dry religion. He wanted Pentecost and he wanted a touch from God.

What can we learn from these short sermons that he preached at the Azusa Street revival in Los Angeles in 1906? First, we learn that Seymour clearly wanted people to go after Jesus. Like Frank Bartlemen, he didn't want Pentecost to replace Jesus. Secondly, he believed in two works of grace following salvation. This would be a believer must be saved then sanctified and then baptized in the Holy Spirit with the initial, physical evidence of speaking in tongues. Thirdly, he believed this Pentecostal revival would spread to the nations which it did.

Overall, interesting to read his sermons. While not deep in their content nor long, they reflect a heart that, while not theologically perfect, longed to glorify God in my opinion. I don't fully agree with Seymour on all that he taught but he seemed to have a heart for God from these sermons.

Wow!

What a treasure to have these messages! While they themselves would have us go further and deeper, the honor God Himself gave men and women like this speaks to the fact that we need to "honor our fathers and mothers." It is part of getting our spirit right before God. Asuza Street saw creative miracles. There was manifestation like over Israel - fire was on the rooftop, such that the fire department would come out. We need the humility of such faith, which overcomes the world, flesh, and devil. Where it challenges me and my intellect - that is just what is needed for more breakthrough.

Immoderate "moderate Islam"

Edip Yuksel, a Muslim, wrote this book (in part) to denounce those who believe that the Muslim holy book, the Quran, allows Muslims to wage war against non-Muslims who fail to submit (kowtow) to Islamist rule. The author also wrote a revised Koran called the "Quran: a Reformist Translation." In the latter book, the author didn't just provide a differing translation of the Koran, he eviscerates it by removing all of the sections of the Koran that either blatantly or seemingly enabled Muslims to attack non-Muslims who failed to submit to Islamic taxation [jizya]. Yuksel, a Muslim, appears to acknowledge that the four major ahadith works are bogus (p. 66), and, therefore, their commentaries stating that the Muslim prophet Mohammad championed warfare against infidels to force them to pay tribute to Muslim authorities are bogus, too. In `Warmongers' the author reprints a number of FRONTPAGE articles regarding several conferences that this pro-Muslim author participated in with others who questioned the validity of the Muslim faith. Yuksel apparently believes that these reprints support his contentions; I disagree. But I applaud his reprinting them - they are the best portions of his book. Because Yukel rebukes so much common understanding about Mohammad, how he believes that his 'reformist' Islamic theology will be accepted by mainstream/ moderate Muslims is baffling to me - but that is a cross that he will have to carry. Yuksel denounces the writings of many individuals with whom he disagrees: Glenn Beck, David Horowitz, Daniel Pipes, Ali Sina, Robert Spencer, Wafa Sultan, Ibn Waraq, Bill Warner and Starbucks coffee (along with about 150 other individuals or corporations)... he calls them "Enemies of Peace" and/or "Warmongers" (p. 1). This book is simply so bad with its taqiyya writings that I will be resting it on my bookshelf alongside its companion book "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion".

Barking up the wrong tree

Yuksel is a "moderate" Muslim who has obviously had enough of the difficult questions asked by those he purports to criticise in this book. You can read the debates between him and Robert Spencer as well as Bill Warner that were published on Frontpage Magazine's website in this book. One example - if you want to look for it online (since I can't publish the URL here) - is from 2008, entitled "A New Koran?". Judge for yourself his views, analytical method and understanding of the problem with radical Islam, Islamism or Jihadism (whatever phrase you prefer) before you buy this book. I found it lacking and verging on the personal. That's always a sign, in my opinion, that someone hasn't got their ideas straight and can't handle the issues raised. Instead of spending so much time and energy attacking those people that are raising difficult questions about the nature of classical Islamic doctrines and history and the subsequent prospects for tackling radical Islam, Yuksel could have spent his time more effectively and convincingly rebutting their claims and insights with reference to what these people actually have said. Let's see a more intellectually honest approach by secular Muslims that presents a reformed Islam based on an acknowledgement and rejection of the tenets of Islam that exhort jihad for the sake of Islamic supremacy - so well compiled in Andrew Bostom's Legacy of Jihad - rather than character assassinations. I'll be honest and say I haven't read this book, though I have read the debates so I have read some of it, but I was prompted to provide this review when I saw that Yuksel himself has "reviewed" his own book and given it, guess what, five stars.

Fake, or written in ignorance, Look elsewhere for the truth

I am glad I did not pay money for the book I read, sorry Amazon. Yuksel is obviously a "moderate" Muslim who fails to reflect on the effect of moderate Germans on Hitler in World War 2.
The Koran is either the written word of Mohammad and assuming he is a prophet or it is not. If it is then it must be taken for what it says, thus Yuksel is more of a Infidel and not a moderate or it is not a holy book at all thus making it a man made religion or should I more accurately refer to it as a Vatican made religion based on the testimony of ex-Jesuit priest, Alberto Rivera. I have looked at the Koran and read much of it, I find it poorly written and very much like the ramblings of a hate filled man who had issues. I feel most comic books are better put together then the Koran, that is the truth, not an insult, so please do not take it as such. If Yuksel is not a total fake and liar then he is just fooling himself if he thinks a moderate muslim movement will ever be successful without tearing out half the Koran, and if that were done then one would have to conclude it was based on false teachings and should be tossed out altogether.
In defense of Osama, he is living and practicing what the Koran says, Yuksel is living and practicing what he wishes it said. I could be wrong and Yuksel is just taking this stance to make money selling books...ect.
