Buy an older version unless you need online content

I recommend buying an old used version.
Maybe there are a few errors in those versions, but I doubt many.

Someone loaned me the fifth edition. It's identical. The questions are exactly the same. Why even make a "new edition" was there 1 piece of punctuation that needed changing somewhere?

Do not buy it if you think its different than the previous book. I checked the first page of anatomy questions from three versions and they are exactly the same. Shame that Kaplan does not sort or gives us different questions.

PASS - Go buy Art of Paranorman Instead

If you're an avid book collector you might want to pass on this. All the art in the book is "production art" meaning the art probably was re-quested in the morning and the artist had until the end of the day to have three versions of the idea. To be able to achieve this you have to heavily leverage photo reference and the final result, while informative to the director, isn't very inspiring or beautiful. All art of books have a certain amount of "production art" but some show more models, or story boards, or fully painted out moment pieces. The Art of Civil War doesn't strike a nice balance. Coupled with very darkly printed pages this book is very much a pass! ( Dark artwork that results in dark prints feels like a late assignment being turned in for a college art class)

i'm also happy with all the character design and concept art for ...

THis went over my expectation!! i was surprised how many storyboard sequence they got in the book that was almost exactly how it went in the movie!
i'm also happy with all the character design and concept art for the sets. The only reason why i gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because the lack of Spiderman concept art in this book, perhaps it's becasue the addition of him was late in the production, but if you're looking for some spidey art in this book, i can spoil it for you, there are only 2 and i'ts on the internet already.
I'm also surprised how little there was for the final fight scene with iron man vs winter soilder and cap, there are like 4,5 pages of that only without any storyboards and concept art paintings.
anyway, i'm very happy with this, and the amazon price is pretty sweet too compare with how it's going for in my local store

it's pretty disappointing in that respect

if you're a collector of the MCU film books by all means get this book to continue completing your collection. i certainly purchased the book for that reason. i even pre-ordered it because i was really excited to see what would be printed for the captain america : civil war film book.

however the book left plenty to be desired. most of the rendered scenes look kinda sloppy, as though the artists had cut out characters (such as cap and the winter soldier) from the second movie and superimposed them on backdrops. it almost resembles one of those kid's books where you can create your own scene on a blank background using stickers the book provides you with. the review by martin described many of the pages as pixelated and they were. either the art for the movie was slapped together haphazardly without a care for professional looking work or the book was. maybe both? i hope not. as this is the last movie book for the captain america movie trilogy, it's pretty disappointing in that respect.

i guess i should say some nice things. as always ryan meinerding's art is stunning. most of the character concept art was really wonderful too. the art depicting the showdown at the airport was pretty fabulous too! unless you wanted more pages of spiderman (like some other reviewers wanted). if that's the case you might end up being disappointed.

overall, buy if you want to collect but lower your expectations haha.

Great Method; Very Helpful

I bought both this book after completing Book 1 to prepare for a trip to the Philippines. What great investment! I was looking for something that could give me a good foundation in grammar and good vocabulary for everyday family-type situations. These are the books. There were very helpful, as I was in rural Nueva Ecija, and many did not speak English. Everyone was surprised at how much I had learned without knowing anyone who speaks Tagalog. I made many friends in the Philippines with the help of these books. Many, many thanks to the author for his contribution to the success of my trip!!

I have studied other languages, using either conversational or grammar focuses. Both methods have their advantages and drawbacks, but the method used in this book is an excellent melding of the two methods so as to maximze the advantages of both. The books are accompanied by CDs and supported by an active website that reinforces the lessons and expands the cultural awareness. The exercises (with answers) were exactly to the point and helpful. I only wish there were about twice as many exercises as there are. The vocabulary sections in each chapter were especially helpful for the use of the each new vocabulary word in a sentence or two. They also turned out to be exactly the right set of words I needed to know. That's something I could not get out of a dictionary.

I purchased a couple of other recommended books before this set, but they were not as effective. These are the ones that taught me what I needed to know. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who has a desire to learn Tagalog, as I know they work.

There are a few minor problems with book, such as answers to exercises in the places where answers should not be. And the CDs would be a little more efficient without all the music introductions (although I like the music). But these problems are minor, and don't get in the way of the learning. Maraming salamat po, Mr. Romero!!! I hope you are successful in publishing Book 3, as I will be sure to purchase it.

If there are better selections out there...

The book is designed nicely for learning a language, but the text is riddled with typos, misprints, incorrect answers, and other very obvious mistakes, which make studying with this book very frustrating. There are also numerous formatting errors where entire charts are cut off and review questions for one chapter are in the wrong chapter! It seems as though the book was edited by a blind sea turtle. You can certainly learn from this book but I don't see how so many blatant errors were overlooked.

If you want to learn Tagalog then this is the book for you!!!!!

This book taught me about the grammatical rules of tagalog. Which can be tricky for English Natives. I am not to fond of the cds.

Good food for hard times and good times alike.

this book is written with thought given to simplisity, and good taste, all ingredients are easy to find, the pictures in this book are a rare find, the food looks exactly in this book as it would on my table, what you see is what you will make, no trick photography here.

Yes it's digital but

This is a good book for learning proper ways to can meats. While at first I was a bit surprised how short the meat canning part was i realized that there are not a lot of directions to actually can meat so 50 pages of how to are not required.

The recipes look so tasty and I can't wait to try them, I don't have my canner yet as I ordered it earlier today but will update this post once I actually use some recipes.

There was a reader who gave this a bad review because its digital... Heck on the first couple of pages it tells you she is working on a hard copy of this book... And any recipes I enjoy will get printed and filed so easy peezy no whining required!!!!

The book has great links to USDA food safety guidelines for canning meats and other recommendations.

Also the canner I bought (all American 921canner) is what she uses and recommends the Manuel itself for great canning recommendations.

All in all I am happy with my purchase.....

Great Book for Beginners

This is an amazing detailed book about canning that I'm pretty sure can interest any new beginner or person wanting a new hobby to pick up. From what I've heard, once you start canning you don't go back. Loved the book!
